Kenner Carpet Cleaning is an independent reference site about looking after carpet. It is organised as a catalogue rather than a news feed: four topics, each split into sub-topics, each sub-topic holding a small set of guides that cover how something works, what it is good for, and how to do it well.
What the guides cover
The types of carpet cleaning methods section explains bonnet cleaning, dry cleaning, shampooing and steam cleaning (hot water extraction): what each method actually does to the fibre, where it shines and where it can cause problems such as over-wetting or residue. Eco-friendly carpet cleaning solutions looks at DIY natural cleaners, low-water and low-waste methods, and how to read the labels on green cleaning products. Specialized treatments for pet stains and odors covers enzyme cleaners, pet-friendly products and what professional odor removal involves. Carpet repair and restoration services deals with deep cleaning and restoration treatments, seam repair and replacement, and patching and re-stretching.
How the articles are written
Every guide on the site is written by Heidi Tosch. Each one starts from a single question a homeowner or renter is likely to ask, explains the general practice in plain language, and points out the mistakes that tend to cost people a carpet: the wrong method for the fibre, too much water, too much product, or a repair attempted too late. Where a job is genuinely better left to a technician, the guide says so.
The guides describe general practice. They are not a substitute for the care instructions that came with your carpet, the label on a specific product, or an assessment by a qualified technician who can see the carpet in person. Carpet fibres, backings, dyes and adhesives vary widely, so test any method or product on an inconspicuous area first.
Corrections and suggestions
If something in a guide is out of date, unclear or plainly wrong, please get in touch. Corrections are made to the guide itself rather than in a comments thread, and suggestions for new sub-topics are welcome.
